For our next show, we’re doing something a little different…
The Friends of the Mad River, who’ve been bringing you fantastic shows at the Avening Hall since 2001, have decided it’s time to get outside and enjoy the summer weather. So on Saturday, June 5, they’re presenting Hall veteran FRED EAGLESMITH at the NEW FARM, a wonderful working farm in Maple Valley, just up the hill from Creemore (that’s right, it’s a valley on a hill).
The folks at the New Farm are known around these parts for their delicious organic produce, which can be picked up every Saturday morning at the Creemore Farmer’s Market. They’re also heavily involved with a great Toronto organization known as THE STOP, which operates out of the Green Barn on Christie Street and aims to increase access to food in a manner that maintains dignity, builds health and community and challenges inequality.
FRED ON THE FARM will feature a yummy barbecue meal and a cash bar and proceeds from the $45 tickets ($17 for kids) go to THE STOP.
Join your friends from the Avening Hall as they venture outside for a concert under the stars. It’s going to be fun!

Just a question (I’m trying not to sound passive aggressive because that’s totally not the spirit!): When did tickets for July 15th go on sale? I sent e-mails to Sara and subscribed when I initially read about the show, but I received no replies so I assumed that they were indeed impossible to get; now I’m kicking myself for not getting word in time to snatch some up
I’d embarrass myself - like, by auditioning for Canadian Idol with my pathetic set of pipes - for these! Any extremely remote possibility they can be obtained by legal means? I’ll pursue it!
